Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 28 April 2026

These Terms & Conditions apply to all bookings, memberships and purchases made with Social Climbing across our three centres. The Privacy policy (Section 14) and Refund policy (Section 7) are clearly labelled below using that exact terminology. The legal entity names used here match those on our website footer and Contact page.

1. Who we are

Social Climbing is the trading name of three UK limited companies that together operate three indoor bouldering centres in the Midlands:

  • Recreational Fitness Limited — trading as Social Climbing Leicester — registered in England and Wales, company number 10727084. Registered office: 24–28 East Bond Street, Leicester, LE1 4SX.
  • Prior Walls Limited — trading as Social Climbing Coventry — registered in England and Wales, company number 09633178. Registered office: Cash's Business Centre, 1st Floor, 228 Widdrington Road, Coventry, West Midlands, CV1 4PB.
  • Flash Climbing Centre Limited — trading as Social Climbing Solihull — registered in England and Wales, company number 11240600. Registered office: Flash Climbing Centre, Vulcan Road, Solihull, B91 2JY.

The three companies are part of the same group, with Prior Management Holdings Ltd (company number 16366079) as the holding company.

In these Terms, "we", "us" and "our" refer to the company that operates the centre you are booking with or visiting. "You" and "your" refer to the person making the booking, purchase or visit. "Centre" means whichever of our three locations applies to your booking.

2. The contract between us

By making a booking, signing a waiver, buying a membership, entering one of our centres, or using our website, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and to the additional policies referenced in them, including our Privacy policy (Section 14) and Refund policy (Section 7).

If you do not agree, please do not use our services. We may update these Terms from time to time; the version published on our website at the time of your booking is the version that applies to that booking.

3. Climbing is a risk sport

Bouldering and indoor climbing are activities that carry an inherent risk of injury, including (but not limited to) sprains, fractures and head injuries. Falling from the wall, even onto matting, can cause serious harm. By using our centres you accept that risk and agree to:

  • complete and sign our registration and waiver before climbing for the first time, and keep your details up to date;
  • complete an induction or competence check before climbing unsupervised, where required;
  • climb within your ability and in line with our centre rules and any instructions given by staff;
  • supervise any children in your care in line with the supervision ratios set out in Section 11.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

4. House rules and conduct

While in our centres, you agree to:

  • follow all posted rules, signs and staff instructions;
  • not climb under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs, or any medication that affects your ability to climb safely;
  • behave respectfully towards other customers and staff. We have a zero-tolerance policy on harassment, abusive behaviour and discrimination;
  • not bring food, drink (other than water) or pets (other than assistance animals) into climbing areas;
  • not use our facilities for commercial coaching or filming without our prior written consent.

We may refuse entry, end your session or cancel your membership without refund if you breach these rules or behave in a way that puts yourself, our staff or other customers at risk.

5. Bookings

Sessions, classes, courses and events can be booked through our website, our booking platform, or in person at the centre. Your booking is confirmed once you receive a confirmation email or in-app confirmation.

Prices and availability are as shown at the time of booking. We may correct obvious pricing errors and will let you know if a correction affects your booking before taking payment.

6. Memberships

Memberships are personal to you and are non-transferable. They give you access to the centre or centres specified at the time of purchase, during normal opening hours.

  • Rolling monthly memberships are paid by direct debit and continue until you cancel them. To cancel, give written notice in line with the notice period stated at sign-up; the membership will then run to the end of the current paid period.
  • Annual and paid-in-advance memberships are paid up-front for a fixed period and renew only if you choose to renew them.
  • We may change membership prices and benefits with reasonable notice. If we do, you may cancel without penalty before the change takes effect.
  • We may suspend or cancel your membership without refund if you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms (see Section 4).

7. Refund policy

This Refund policy applies to all bookings and purchases made with Recreational Fitness Limited, Prior Walls Limited and Flash Climbing Centre Limited.

7.1 Sessions, day passes and casual bookings

  • Cancellations more than 24 hours before your booked session — you are entitled to a full refund to the original payment method.
  • Cancellations within 24 hours of your booked session — these are not eligible for a refund. As a goodwill alternative, your booking can be rescheduled up to two times, subject to availability. After the second reschedule, the booking is treated as used and no further changes or refunds are available.
  • No-shows — a no-show is treated as a session used and is not refundable.

7.2 Memberships

  • Rolling monthly memberships can be cancelled at any time in line with your membership terms, and will run to the end of the current paid period. Once a monthly payment has been taken, that month is non-refundable.
  • Annual and paid-in-advance memberships are non-refundable, except where required by law (for example, where we have failed to provide the service or where statutory consumer rights apply).

7.3 Courses, academies, coaching and events

  • Cancellations more than 24 hours before the first session — you are entitled to a full refund.
  • Cancellations within 24 hours of the first session — these are not eligible for a refund. As a goodwill alternative, your place can be moved to another date or course up to two times, subject to availability. After the second move, the booking is treated as used and no further changes or refunds are available.

7.4 Gift cards and shop items

  • Gift cards are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash, but can be used flexibly across all three Social Climbing centres.
  • Unused, unopened shop items can be returned within 14 days of purchase for a refund or exchange, in line with the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Climbing shoes, chalk and personal-hygiene items are non-returnable once worn or opened, except where faulty.

7.5 How to request a refund or reschedule

Please contact the centre you booked with:

Approved refunds are processed back to your original payment method and typically take 5–10 working days to appear, depending on your bank or card issuer.

7.6 Your statutory rights

Nothing in this Refund policy affects your statutory consumer rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.

8. Payment

We accept payment by debit card, credit card, and direct debit (for monthly memberships). Payment is taken at the point of booking unless otherwise stated. Card payments are processed by our payment providers (currently Dojo, Stripe and GoCardless); we do not store full card numbers on our own systems.

If a direct debit fails, we will attempt to recollect and may suspend your membership until payment is received.

9. Closure, equipment changes and route changes

We may close all or part of a centre temporarily for maintenance, route-setting, private events, or for reasons outside our control (for example, fire, flood, loss of utilities or government restrictions). Where a closure materially affects an ongoing membership, we will, at our discretion, extend the membership by an equivalent period or offer a partial refund.

10. Loss or damage to your belongings

You are responsible for your own belongings while at our centres. Lockers and bag storage are provided as a convenience, not as secure storage, and we are not liable for loss, theft of, or damage to belongings except to the extent caused by our negligence.

11. Children and supervision

For the safety of children climbing with us:

  • Climbers under 18 must have a registration and waiver completed by a parent or legal guardian.
  • Children under 14 must be directly supervised at all times by a registered, climbing-competent adult, in line with our published supervision ratios.
  • Some sessions, courses and academies have minimum or maximum age requirements; these will be set out at the point of booking.

We may refuse entry or end a session if a child is not adequately supervised.

12. Photography, CCTV and marketing

Our centres are covered by CCTV for the safety of our staff and customers. Footage is processed in line with our Privacy policy (Section 14).

We occasionally take photos and video at our centres for marketing and social media. Where we do, we will make this clear at the time, and we will only use images of identifiable individuals where you have consented (or, for under-18s, where a parent or guardian has consented).

13. Intellectual property

All content on our website (including text, images, logos, designs, route names and grading systems) is owned by us or our licensors. You may use it for personal, non-commercial use only. You may not reproduce, redistribute or otherwise exploit it without our written permission.

14. Privacy policy

Your privacy is important to us. Our full Privacy policy is published on our website and explains, in detail:

  • the personal data we collect and how we collect it;
  • our lawful bases for processing under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018;
  • who we share your data with (including BETA Climbing Designs, Mailchimp, our payment providers, our hosting providers and our professional advisers);
  • how long we keep your data and how we keep it secure;
  • your rights, including the right to access, correct, delete or port your data, and to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Each of Recreational Fitness Limited, Prior Walls Limited and Flash Climbing Centre Limited is the data controller for personal data collected at and on behalf of its own centre. Shared services are administered by Prior Management Holdings Ltd on behalf of all three operating companies.

To exercise any of your rights, or to ask any question about how we handle your data, contact us at privacy@social-climbing.com.

The full Privacy policy is available at: https://www.social-climbing.com/privacy-policy.

15. Limitation of liability

Subject to Section 3 (which preserves your rights in respect of death, personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud and any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded), our total liability to you arising from or in connection with these Terms is limited to the total amount you have paid us in the 12 months immediately before the event giving rise to the liability.

We are not liable for any loss that is not a foreseeable result of our breach of these Terms, or for any loss of profit, loss of business or loss of opportunity.

16. Complaints

If something has gone wrong, please tell us — we'd much rather have the chance to put it right. Email the centre you visited (see Section 7.5) or write to us at our registered office. We aim to acknowledge complaints within 5 working days and to provide a substantive response within 28 days.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version is always available on our website, with the date of the last update at the top. If a change materially affects an ongoing booking or membership, we will let you know in advance.

18. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with them will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
